Gladstone Ltd, the leading supplier of leisure management software in the UK & Ireland, today announced record turnover of £14m in its latest financial year-end results, up from £11m in 2018, representing 127% growth over the past four years. As the leisure industry continues to fight back, Gladstone have pledged to continue to invest 40% of profits into research and development, and to increase R&D spend by 10% year-on-year as the sector embraces and learns from digital solutions in the post-covid era. Alarming findings from a recent report released by the World Obesity Federation suggested more than half of the world’s population will be classified as obese or overweight by 2035. According to one of ukactive’s most recently released Digital Futures reports, in fact, the overall score for the sector’s digital maturity and effectiveness was noted at 51%. The index describes this level (40-59%) as ‘Digital Experimenter’, typically meaning that operators are making great strides but missing the investment, goal alignment and rapid advances to yield a strong performance. The findings pointed to a lack of a robust digital strategy, continual investment, and adaptability of third-party technology platforms as reasons holding operators back. Read the full article. |

Fitness News Europe: Claire Rollins, Gladstone’s chief executive, said that it’s investing about £2.5 million (€2.8m) per year in product development, and its team has expanded to about 105 employees at the start of this year, up from 75 one year earlier. Gladstone’s sales moved up by 7.5% to about £14 million (€15.8m) last year, and Rollins has budgeted another rise of 10% this year. | |
